The method

How Visa works.

Visa is a global card payment network that connects cardholders, issuing banks, merchants and acquirers. Your customers can pay with the Visa-branded credit, debit or prepaid cards they already use for everyday spending.

For merchants, Visa offers a consistent core payment experience in domestic and international markets. The same credential can carry a one-time purchase, a saved-card checkout or an agreed recurring payment relationship.

Visa also supports tokenised digital payments: a token stands in for the card details, so returning customers can pay again while the underlying card information stays protected.

With DaoPay

Accept Visa with DaoPay.

DaoPay is the merchant acquirer for your Visa payments. You can accept and process Visa transactions under one acquiring relationship, and DaoPay supports the payment flow from authorisation through settlement as well as your ongoing payment operations.

Three ways your customers pay with Visa
One-time card checkout

The customer enters their Visa card details and completes any authentication the issuing bank requests.

The familiar card checkout for one-time purchases in domestic and international markets.

Saved card for repeat buyers

With the customer’s consent, a tokenised credential can be used for future purchases, including one-click-style checkout.

Payment tokens stand in for the card details and simplify checkout for returning customers.

Recurring billing

The customer sets up a subscription or repeat-billing relationship, and later payments follow the agreed schedule.

Stored-credential billing within scheme rules, for subscriptions, memberships and repeat services.

How customers pay.

Six steps from card entry to a confirmed order. Recurring services then continue on the stored credential.

  1. 01

    Select card payment

The customer selects card payment, then enters Visa card details or picks a saved card.

  2. 02

    Authorisation request

The merchant checkout submits the transaction for authorisation.

  3. 03

    Issuer authentication

The customer’s issuing bank may request additional authentication.

  4. 04

    Customer approves

The customer approves the purchase using the issuer’s required method.

  5. 05

    Back to the merchant

The customer returns to your checkout and the order proceeds.

  6. 06

    Repeat charges on file

For agreed recurring services, later payments can use the established stored credential.

Coverage

Market coverage.

Visa is built for broad international acceptance. You can use it as a core payment option across markets, customer segments and basket sizes; your acquiring arrangement defines the exact currencies and transaction parameters.
