The method

How Trustly works.

Trustly is a Pay by Bank provider: customers pay directly from their bank account through the online or mobile banking they already use.

At checkout, the customer selects a bank, authenticates with it and authorises an account-to-account payment. The standard payment journey needs no card number and no separate Trustly consumer wallet.

Through enabled products, Trustly also supports recurring and bill payments, so merchants can extend Pay by Bank beyond the one-time purchase.

Three ways to pay with Trustly
One-time Pay by Bank

The customer selects a bank and authorises a direct account payment for the order.

The standard journey: existing banking relationship, no card number, no separate wallet.

Returning customers

Eligible repeat customers can move through a streamlined bank-selection and approval experience.

Less friction for the second purchase and every one after it.

Recurring and bill payment

Supported products can establish an ongoing bank-payment relationship for subscriptions and invoices.

Pay by Bank beyond the one-time purchase, including memberships, utilities and bills.

How customers pay.

The customer selects the relevant account where required.

  5. 05

    Authorise and return

  6. 06
