How eps works.
eps is an Austrian online payment method that lets customers pay directly through the online banking of their own participating bank. The customer uses a banking relationship and authentication process they already know.
The payment information is prepared within the checkout flow, and the customer is directed to the bank environment to review and authorise the transfer. The customer does not have to create a separate bank payment by hand.
For merchants targeting Austria, eps adds a recognised local bank-payment option alongside cards and other international methods.
The customer selects a participating bank and authorises the prepared transfer in online banking.
The whole approval happens inside the customer’s familiar Austrian bank environment.
Where supported by the customer’s bank, authentication can be completed using the bank’s mobile app.
The same prepared payment, approved on the phone with the bank’s own app authentication.
The checkout carries the transaction details into online banking, so the customer only reviews and approves.
No manual IBAN, amount or reference entry, and no separate wallet account to create.
