The method

What BLIK is.

BLIK is a mobile-first payment system that lets customers pay online directly through a participating banking app. At checkout, the customer typically generates a six-digit BLIK code in their bank app, enters it on the merchant payment page and confirms the transaction inside the app. The experience is familiar, fast and does not require the customer to enter card details.

For merchants selling into Poland, BLIK is a core local checkout option rather than a niche alternative. The system reported 21.1 million active users at the end of March 2026, and e-commerce represented more than half of its transaction volume in the first quarter of 2026.

BLIK is developing beyond individual code payments through recurring payments, Pay Later and growing European interoperability, giving merchants a broader path for conversion, retention and cross-border reach.

The BLIK payment experiences
BLIK code payment

The customer generates a six-digit code in a participating bank app and enters it at checkout; the transaction details are displayed in the app, where the customer confirms the payment.

The flow uses a banking environment customers already know and trust.

BLIK recurring payments

A customer activates a recurring payment once and future subscription payments are processed according to the agreed schedule.

Customers retain visibility and control through their banking app, while merchants gain a locally familiar option for subscription and repeat-payment models.

Beyond the code

BLIK is expanding through recurring payments, Pay Later and growing European interoperability.

A broader path for conversion, retention and cross-border reach as the scheme extends into Slovakia and the wider eurozone.

  4. 04

    Back to the merchant

The customer returns to the merchant checkout after approval.

  5. 05

    Recurring continues

For recurring payments, the customer activates the mandate once and future scheduled payments can be processed automatically.

Coverage

Coverage & reach.

The commercial strength for merchants comes from a rare combination of scale, frequency and local trust:

  • Strong recognition among Polish mobile-banking customers.
